In this seminar Mark Cleghorn demonstrates the power of "off-camera" flash! He will be using speedlites with accessories like the Honl grids, the RayFlash ringflash adapter and Quantum Qflash & Turbo batteries.

Each of the different set-ups demonstrated will show you how he mixes ambient and flash to create dynamic portraits whether for an editorial style or a portrait commission.

Designing and running participatory photography projects

3 days: September 14, 15 & 17 (PVWT 006)
3 days: November 17, 18 & 19 (PVWT 009)

These three day workshops provides an overview of participatory photography methods and the key elements of designing, running and
facilitating a participatory photography project. It is aimed at those who want to gain a solid understanding of the processes involved in
working with participatory photography and is ideal for practitioners and professionals looking to embark on their own projects. Participants
will learn about the key aspects of participatory photography, considerations for designing projects, what is involved in running projects and
facilitation techniques. We focus on the key things you need to consider to design and deliver a participatory photography project, and
provide resources to games and activities that can be used in workshops.

Introduction to participatory photography methods
No photographic experience required
1 Day: September 22 2010 (PVWT 007)

This one day workshop provides an introduction to participatory photography for social change practitioners. It is aimed at those who do not
ordinarily work with photography and digital media and are keen to gain an overview of the processes, principles and key elements of
participatory photography methodology.

This one day workshop provides an introduction to participatory photography. It is aimed at those with visual backgrounds who already have
an understanding of working with photography and are keen to gain an overview of the processes, principles and key elements of

Wacom demos Intuous 4 at TFC Birmingham


This Thursday, 9th April, Wacom will be invading the Birmingham branch with a day of demos, tutorials and hands on with the new Intuos 4 range of graphics tablets. Following last years hugely successfull day, we're [TFC] running another Equestrian Photography Workshop. On may 20th at the World Horse Walfare in Snetterton, Norfolk, Steve Dawe will be doing a really hands-on session where you'll get loads of opportunity to shoot horses in lots of situations, as well as grooms and riders. Tom Mackie Images announces landscape and architectural event in Andalucia, Spain on 19th – 26th May 2009



The Ancient Beauty of Andalucia – Capture it all with new photographic approaches from Tom Mackie




20th March 2009 – Tom Mackie Images a leader in photography and photographic training is pleased to introduce to its training and workshop portfolio a new landscape and architectural event taking place in Andalucia, Spain on 19th – 26th May 2009.

This unique event will give you the opportunity to learn from Tom in a very small team whilst shooting amazing images of Andalucia’s famous whitewashed villages with its winding streets lined with fascinating houses full of character. The group will spend time in Olvera which not only boasts fantastic photo opportunities as there is an amazing castle and cathedral within but the area also provides magnificent views of surrounding hilltop villages.

During the event the group will spend time with Tom visiting Ronda with its splendid Roman and Moorish architecture and Casares with its cliff-hugging buildings as well as having plenty of opportunity for shooting around the Plaza de Espana – one of Seville’s most famous buildings and the epitome of the Moorish Revival in Spanish architecture.

The Plaza is a huge half-circle with buildings that run continually around the edge and which are accessible by the moat or by the numerous beautiful bridges. There is also the central fountain, tiled alcoves, boats that drift around the moat and so much more to wet your photographic appetite.

Tom’s photographic style and creative approach to landscapes and architecture has given him one of the strongest followings around the globe.
