Lowepro announce Photo Sport AW series backpacks

Two new backpacks aimed at adventure-sports orientated photographers look like a valuable addition to Lowepro's range. After losing some of its best people to ThinkTank Photo, Lowepro has struggled to bring innovative products to market, but that has changed in recent times. The superb Pro Roller X-series, new Street and Field (S&F) range and now these two packs all demonstrate Lowepro hasn't lost its touch. We'll be reviewing one of the new backpacks on this site shortly.

New from Lowepro - Photo Sport AW Series

An ultra-lightweight high-performance backpack, purpose built for adventure-sports athletes who like to travel fast with their camera gear and essentials.

Lowepro, the leading brand of protective gear for photography equipment, has unveiled the brand new Photo Sport AW series of dual-compartment backpacks. The range is specifically designed for photographers who are as passionate about their sport as their photography.

Tim Sadler, Category Manager for Lowepro, said: “Our new Photo Sport AW backpacks are ideal for people who like to mountain bike, trail run, snowboard and take photos while they enjoy the great outdoors. We think adventure-sports athletes will appreciate the light weight, innovative design details and freedom these backpacks offer.”
The series consists of two styles: the Photo Sport 200 AW backpack and the Photo Sport Sling 100 AW. Both feature adventure-pack construction with ultra-lightweight, resilient and high-performance technical fabrics that provide improved durability during extreme activities.

The lower compartment of each pack includes Lowepro’s patent-pending Ultra-Cinch Camera Chamber™ to protect camera gear in a padded and secure compartment and help prevent movement. A side-access pocket allows the wearer to quickly rotate the pack to the front, unzip, un-cinch and access their camera to capture an ideal moment.

The top-loading upper compartment mimics the function of a classic pack. Roomy and flexible storage space -13.9 liters in the 200 AW backpack and 9 liters in the Sling 100 AW -allows the wearer to easily access additional storage space for a jacket, hat, phone or snack. A pocket on the top lid provides a convenient spot for a pair of sunglasses, keys or other small personal items.

There are multiple attachment points, trekking/ski pole loops and extra webbing offering a variety of ways to expand the carrying capacity and customize the pack for specific outdoor activities.

Additional features of both packs include details that offer comfort and protection when out for a run, bike, hike or other activity. The airflow back pad provides breathability and cushioned support. Multiple adjustment points offer a custom fit and reflective piping along the front panel offers visibility to the wearer in foggy, rainy, snowy and dark conditions.

Lowepro’s patented, built-in All Weather AW Cover™ protects camera and personal gear from the elements and is easy to tuck into a discreet pocket when not in use.

Distinctive features of the Photo Sport 200 AW are: a dedicated hydration pocket with a port (hydration reservoir not included); waist belt pockets; sternum strap with built-in safety whistle; and an aluminum stay for extra support and to help keep extra weight off the back.

The Photo Sport Sling 100 AW has multiple adjustment points along the crossover strap and offers a smaller-scaled option - It weighs less than two pounds when empty.

Available in Black/Light Grey and Lowepro Orange/Light Grey.
