FinePix HS20 – the ultimate all-in-one just got better

Record-breaking, innovative, versatile; the new Fujifilm FinePix HS20 is all this and so much more. Replacing the multiple award-winning FinePix HS10, this latest addition to the range of Fujifilm bridge cameras represents the perfect picture taking solution for photographers who want the specification and picture quality of an SLR without the heavy camera bag and huge dent in their bank balance. With a class-leading feature set that includes a brand new EXR CMOS sensor, high speed continuous shooting capability, improved user interface, versatile video functions, 30x zoom lens and a 16 megapixel resolution, the HS20 sets new standards in bridge camera functionality and performance.

Fast, brilliant, results in all lighting conditions

media_1294225729824.png

Sitting at the heart of the FinePix HS20 is an all-new sensor that marries EXR and CMOS technologies to deliver truly outstanding results, regardless of the lighting conditions.

The secret lies in the combination of Back Side Illuminated (BSI) CMOS and Fujifilm's unique EXR sensor technology. The design of conventional CMOS sensors is such that the light has to pass through a layer of wiring before hitting the photo diodes. But the BSI-CMOS configuration places this wiring layer behind the photo diodes improving light sensitivity and dramatically boosting results, particularly in low light. Couple this to the triple-layer EXR array, the performance of which can be split according to the lighting conditions, and you'll see why the FinePix HS20 sets new standards in sensor technology.

As with other FinePix models featuring EXR sensors, three shooting options are available. In the High Resolution mode, users can take advantage of the huge 16 megapixel resolution (the world's largest for a sensor of this type) for truly breathtaking levels of detail and sharpness. The Dynamic Range function uses dual capture technology to provide a maximum range of 1600% for stunning results on high contrast scenes. While the Signal to Noise mode increases pixel size using Pixel Fusion to produce outstanding images in low lighting conditions.

With this unique sensor combination, capturing great pictures has never been easier.

High speed, high quality

media_1294225766299.png

Thanks to the FinePix HS20's heady mix of sensor and processing technologies, brilliant action shots are possible no matter how fast the subject is moving. Whether you've got the HS20 trained on sport, wildlife or just the kids running around, continuous full resolution shooting at 8 frames per second will make sure they're stopped in their tracks. And if that's not fast enough for your needs, how does 11 frames per second at eight megapixel resolution sound?

There's also no need to worry about slow auto focusing making you miss your shot; the HS20's contrast AF system takes no longer than 0.16 seconds to focus. So, it's more likely to be human reactions that fail before the camera, but the HS20 even has that eventually covered as well with the Best Frame Capture Mode. Here, the camera starts recording images from the moment you half-press the shutter release to focus. When you do take a picture, the HS20 also capture seven frames before or after you've taken the shot to make sure you get one perfect image. Friends and family will think you've turned into a professional sports photographer overnight.

EXR engine drives key picture-taking benefits

media_1294225792195.png

EXR technology isn't purely limited to the FinePix HS20's sensor, the camera also features a newly developed triple core EXR processing engine, which speeds up processing time & boosts performance and picture quality on both still and moving images.
Photographers who like to point and shoot will benefit from the expanded scene recognition function. In addition to nine subject-based scene scenarios, the HS20 also employs object recognition to identify whether the scene includes a conventionally-lit portrait, a backlit portrait or no portrait at all. This delivers a total of 27 different scene scenarios for which the camera then optimises exposure and white balance before adding a relevant tag to make the images easier to find later.

The EXR processing engine also has the capability to spot and reduce purple colour fringing, most common on dark subjects against a light backgrounds, and improve the resolution at the corners of an image for more uniform image sharpness.
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of the EXR engine, however, is the new Rich User Interface, which employs Flash and Vector fonts and graphics to dramatically improve the appearance of the FinePix HS20's menus. Users can wave goodbye to pixellated graphics and enjoy smooth text and icons on the camera's menus, now presented on a three inch LCD screen which doubles the pixel count over its predecessor to 460,000. Plus, because the Vector fonts and graphics are scaleable, you'll get the same high quality on an HDTV when the camera is connected via its HDMI socket.

For users who struggle to find images on increasingly-large capacity memory cards, the FinePix HS20's improved image searching capabilities will come in very handy. Now, searching through thousands of images can take seconds, not minutes. Once you've found the shots, it's easy to put them in to a photobook using the Photobook Assist function where the HS20 creates the book, tags the images and then lets you 'turn' the pages to simulate the final book – all on the rear LCD or your HDTV.

Make broadcast quality movies

media_1294225829605.png

The FinePix HS20 isn't just a camera for shooting stills; it also offers an impressive level of video functionality using the H.264 (MOV) Full 1080p HD format and stereo sound. The mainstay of broadcasting and Blu-Ray technologies, the H.264 format produces file sizes that are smaller and easier to handle than AVI, plus they're compatible with many applications and websites, making it simple for you to share video content via sites such as YouTube.

For those wanting the highest quality movies, the FinePix HS20 captures 1920 x 1080p footage at 30 frames per second. Versatility is further increased thanks to the High Speed Movie options, which include 320 x 112 pixel capture at an incredible 320 frames per second or 640 x 480 pixel capture at an impressive 80 frames per second. With features like this, even the fastest moving subjects can be captured and watched in super-slow motion.

Video shooting in low light also just got easier, thanks to the inclusion of the EXR HD Movie mode. By employing the same Pixel Fusion technology as it does for still images, the FinePix HS20 delivers high sensitivity and low digital noise for movie capture in low lighting conditions without the need to resort to additional lighting. Now you can capture the mood of sunsets, interiors and parties in both still and movie form.

A lens for every application

media_1294225859377.png

With a 30x zoom range covering focal lengths from 24-720mm (35mm equivalent), the FinePix HS20 EXR really is ready for anything. Boasting high quality Fujinon optics, the mechanical zoom lens is now even easier to operate thanks to a reduction in the size of the integral flashgun. Zooming through the range can be done quickly and precisely to ensure perfect framing for every shot.

The HS20 has ways and means to combat all kinds of camera movement, and with its three image stabilisation methods, you can be reassured that regardless of what focal length you choose, your images will be blur free. Firstly, the EXR CMOS sensor moves during exposure to eradicate shake. Secondly, the camera will employ Pixel Fusion to increase sensitivity and boost shutter speeds and finally in EXR Auto, the HS20 features an Advanced Anti-blur technology where four images are taken in quick succession then combined to deliver a single shake-free image.

And the improvements don't stop there…

media_1294225890675.png

Further enhancements have been made over the HS10 to enhance the user experience and make the FinePix HS20 the perfect all in one camera. These include an improved Motion Panorama mode for simple, high quality 360° image capture, compatibility with the RR-80 remote release, film simulation modes and the provision to accept high capacity SDXC cards.

Flash users will be pleased to hear that the HS20 also offers TTL flash metering and will be supported by two new compatible flashguns; the fixed head EF-20 and bounce head EF-42, which also offers auto zoom and an AF assist illuminator.

FinePix F550 EXR – the perfect compact, anywhere in the world

Packed with features and loaded with some of the latest technological innovations, the new Fujifilm FinePix F550 EXR is set to take the premium compact camera market by storm.

Following in the footsteps of the award-winning FinePix F200 EXR and F300 EXR models, this latest recruit to the range is the ideal camera for discerning point-and-shoot photographers or SLR users who want to travel light but don't want to compromise image quality and picture-taking versatility. Superb results are assured with exciting new features including an innovative 16 megapixel EXR CMOS sensor, advanced GPS functions, high speed shooting capabilities, a 15x wide-angle zoom lens, Full HD video functionality and an improved user interface. With a stylish design and pocketable dimensions, the FinePix F550 EXR is set to become the must-have compact in 2011.

Perfect pictures in every situation

media_1294224883897.png

Thanks to a brand new hybrid sensor, the FinePix F550 EXR delivers extra fast, high quality results in a wide range of lighting conditions. The 16 megapixel sensor developed by Fujifilm is a clever combination of Back Side Illuminated CMOS (BSI-CMOS) and EXR technologies, which delivers superior results to a conventional sensor; particularly in low light conditions, and also offers high-speed shooting facilities and Full HD movie capture.

Light falling on ordinary sensors has to pass through a layer of wiring before it hits the light-sensitive photo diodes. This layer of wiring reduces light transmission. On the EXR BSI-CMOS sensor, however, the wiring layer is positioned behind the photo diodes so light sensitivity is vastly improved. Add to this the triple-layer EXR technology pioneered by Fujifilm in the F200 EXR and the result is a sensor that is capable of outstanding results, time after time.

Users can still select from the usual three different EXR shooting modes, or simply leave the FinePix F550 EXR to choose the best option itself by selecting Auto EXR. Those preferring to take control can pick from:

High Resolution mode where the sensor utilises the full 16 megapixel resolution for high quality results that can be printed out at A3-size without the need for any re-sizing using software.

Dynamic Range mode where the camera employs dual capture technology to provide a range up to 1600% to provide a much improved Dynamic range. Two images are captured and then merged together to produce superb results on high contrast scenes.

Signal to Noise mode utilises Pixel Fusion, doubling pixels up to increase sensitivity. Coupled with the BSI technology, this mode delivers superb images in low lighting conditions.

A Fujifilm first – built-in GPS

media_1294224913414.png

Fujifilm recognised the benefits of GPS tagging way back in 1997 when they became the first company to introduce an optional GPS recording device for a digital camera on the DS-300. Today, the FinePix F550 EXR becomes the first Fujifilm model to have the facility built in and offers a wide range of user benefits to make the most of the technology.

Regardless of where you are in the world, the FinePix F550 EXR will recognise your location and display it either as longitude and latitude or by place name thanks to the camera's embedded list of locations. A tag is also placed on the image which, when using place names, can easily be searched for, enabling you to quickly find shots of a specific location or point of interest.

Once images are found using the search function, it's simple for users to create a photobook using the Photobook Assist function. Just choose the images you want in the book, mark them (including which image you want to use on the front cover) and then you can even preview the book on the rear LCD.

Additional functionality is also provided by the Photo Navigation function, where you can find your way back to where a photo was taken. For example, if you took a shot at a restaurant that you'd like to return to, simply find the picture and the FinePix F550 EXR will provide the distance and direction you need to travel from your existing location to get back there.

For those who want to re-trace their steps and map a route of their travels, the Route Logging function is sure to appeal. The FinePix F550 EXR stores location data every 10 minutes* and, once the images are downloaded to a PC, a map of the route, along with the pictures you took along the way is created using Google Maps.
* Anytime On or Only Power On must be selected for data to be logged.

Keep up with the action – no matter how fast it's moving

media_1294224939341.png

The FinePix F550 EXR isn't just clever; it's quick as well, boasting a range of features that will keep pace with even the fastest moving action without compromising picture quality.

At full 16 megapixel resolution, the FinePix F550 EXR will deliver up to 8 frames per second for up to 8 frames before it has to pause to take a breath. If you want a longer burst of images or a faster frame rate, it can capture 11 frames per second at 8 megapixel resolution for up to 16 frames or the same frame rate for up to 32 frames at 4 megapixel resolution. At these sorts of speeds and resolutions, no other compact camera comes close.

If you're worried that your reaction times might not match the camera's speed, select the Best Frame Capture mode, which takes pictures before you've even pressed the shutter! With this mode selected, the FinePix F550 EXR automatically starts recording images the moment the shutter release is half-pressed to lock the focus. Then, when the picture is actually taken, it records the seven frames before or after the shutter was released to ensure you get at least one shot that's pin sharp and perfectly framed.

RAW image capture

media_1294224965523.png

With the ability to shoot in RAW or in JPEG format (or both simultaneously), the F550EXR will have real appeal to those that want to be in true control of their images. By shooting in RAW mode you can ensure that you get the true uncompressed image just as the camera sees it.

Huge zoom range, tiny camera

media_1294224989648.png

It's a minor miracle that Fujifilm has managed to pack such a high level specification into the FinePix F550 EXR's compact dimensions, but it's even more impressive that the camera also features a 15x optical zoom.

Despite having a body that measures just 22.9mm wide, the zoom range extends from a wide-angle setting of 24mm through to 360mm (35mm equivalents) giving users a huge range of shooting options from sweeping landscapes through to tightly-cropped details. Plus, image quality and sharpness is assured thanks to the Fujinon lens and new triple core EXR processing engine that automatically reduces colour fringing and boosts corner resolution for uniform image sharpness.

Using the longer focal lengths can cause camera shake, but the FinePix F550 EXR has the bases covered fighting camera shake on three fronts. First, the sensor moves to counter any hand movements. Second, sensitivity is boosted using Pixel Fusion to allow faster shutter speeds and third, users can select "Advanced Anti-blur" mode when in EXR Auto where a sequence of four images are taken and then combined to provide one, shake-free result.

Full HD for stunning videos

media_1294225011525.png

People don't just want to capture their memories as photos any longer, there's a big demand for high-quality video capture too. Not only does the FinePix F550 EXR record videos in stunning Full HD (1080p) at 30 frames per second, it also boasts stereo sound for high quality audio and outputs the files in H.264 (MOV) format. Favoured by broadcasters and Blu-Ray manufacturers, H.264 produces file sizes that are smaller and more manageable than the conventional AVI format. What's more, they're compatible with a wide range of websites and applications, which makes it easier for users to share content on sites including YouTube.

New to the F550 EXR, Fuji's EXR SN mode is now available when shooting videos. "Pixel Fusion Movie technology" fuses pixels together to create superpixels which are extra sensitive to light (and therefore capture much crisper low-light videos with lower levels of noise.

And finally, if it's speedy video capture you're after, the F550 EXR also offers a class-leading selection of high speed video capture options. No other compact camera comes close to the F550 EXR's incredible 320 frames per second capture at 320 x 100 pixels. But if it's higher quality you're after, you can also capture the action at 160 frames per second at 320 x 240 pixels or 80 frames per second at 640 x 480 pixels.

Wave goodbye to pixellated graphics and menus

media_1294225035046.png

The FinePix F550 EXR's three inch rear LCD doesn't just benefit from an increased pixel count – now 460,000 – it also uses a brand new Rich User Interface, which dramatically enhances the user experience and kicks pixellated menus and graphics into touch.
By employing Vector fonts and graphics, camera menus and readouts use smooth text and icons. The graphics are scaleable so they take on the same appearance whether you're viewing on the read LCD or a 50 inch HDTV via the camera's HDMI output.

Don't want GPS? No problem

media_1294225062373.png

While the FinePix F550 EXR with its GPS features is a great camera for photographers who like to travel, Fujifilm recognises that not every user requires GPS functionality. For this reason, a second model – the FinePix F500 EXR – has been introduced, which offers a virtually identical specification, without GPS.

Other differences between the two models include high speed capture on the F500 EXR of three frames per second at 16 megapixels for up to three frames, six frames per second for six frames at eight megapixels or 12 frames per second for 12 frames at four megapixels. The F500 EXR will also be available in a choice of five colours for the style-conscious photographer, while the F550 EXR is only available in a stylish black finish with red highlights.

This powerful mix of features will ensure users can capture great images in no time, be they wide-angle land and cityscapes or closely cropped portraits and distant details.
In addition to the 10x zoom, the T200 also comes equipped with a powerful CCD shift Image Stabilisation (CIS) system that helps eliminate camera shake and deliver high quality images in a wide variety of lighting conditions.
CIS works during the exposure to counteract any hand movements. The result is an expanded range of shooting situations where the T200 can be used without the need for a tripod or other support. With CIS working hard in the background, you can capture sharp, colourful scenes and portraits at night. Plus, should the light be really low, the maximum sensitivity of ISO 3200* can be selected so you can keep shooting.
* Resolution reduced to three megapixels at ISO 3200

An easy to use model with premium features

Many photographers want to keep things simple when it comes to taking pictures and the T200 is an approachable, easy to use compact. But don't think that you're missing out on some of Fujifilm's latest compact camera developments as a result. The FinePix T200 has a few technological tricks up its sleeve, including:
    •    Photobook Assist - picking the pictures to go in a photobook can be time-consuming and it can be difficult to visualise what the final book will look like. Not anymore! The T200's Photobook Assist feature allows you to tag images that you'd like to use in a photobook; you can even tag the front cover shot. Then, when you've made the selection, the camera will create a simulation of the photobook which you can view through on the rear LCD.
    •    Motion Panorama - everybody likes shooting panoramic images, but no-one likes stitching them together afterwards on a PC. This mode makes shooting panoramas easy. Press the shutter release to start, rotate through and then the FinePix T200 will stitch all three shots together seamlessly. Capturing great panoramic shots has never been so fun – or easy!
    •    Face recognition - this is a great feature if you take a lot of pictures of people. When a photo is taken, you can store the name of the person/people in the image. By doing this, the T200 will then automatically find other images on the memory card featuring the same person. Use the Image Search function and you'll quickly be able to find all the shots of a specific individual.
    •    HD video - for those situations when you want to record video footage instead of still shots, the FinePix T200 offers 720p HD video at 30 frames per second.

A Large and High Resolution LCD

Compact dimensions, perhaps, but this hasn't affected the size of the rear LCD, which measures an impressive 2.7 inches from corner to corner. Images and menus are displayed in all their 230K dot glory, plus composition is easy on the large screen.

Slim and pocket-able for easy portability

media_1294223525483.png

A heavy, bulky camera is the last thing you need when you're trying to travel light. The T200 is just 28.1mm thick and 97mm wide, so it'll easily store in the corner of a travel bag or a jacket pocket. What's more the camera is available in 4 colours, so there's bound to be one to suit your taste.

FinePix XP30 with GPS – a world's first for outdoor compacts

Fujifilm has raised the bar in the competitive outdoor compact camera sector by introducing the FinePix XP30; the world's first water, shock, dust and freeze proof model featuring built-in GPS functionality.*

Continuing in the tradition set by the XP10 that it replaces, the FinePix XP30 offers a competitively-priced entry into the sector with a specification that will ensure outdoor-loving photographers or adventure sports enthusiasts are well catered for. In addition to GPS and its rugged build quality, the camera also features an impressive 5x, wide-angle, zoom lens, a 14 megapixel resolution and a healthy range of picture taking functions. With a FinePix XP30 in your rucksack, outdoor photographers will be able take their pictures to new heights without the steep price tag!

Pin-point your location, anywhere in the world

media_1294221474413.png

An increasing number of compact cameras feature GPS tagging, but only the FinePix XP30 features this type of functionality in a rugged, outdoor model. What's more, the GPS features on the camera won't only tell you where you are in the world; it offers additional functions that are essential for outdoor shooting and will make you wonder how you ever managed without them.

Locations can be displayed either as longitude and latitude coordinates, or by place name. The FinePix XP30 has an embedded list featuring around half a million places of interest across the globe. When a shot is taken, the image is tagged with location information, enabling you to quickly find shots of a place you've visited. Should users then want to create a photobook of a specific location they can do so using the Photobook Assist function where you can tag images then turn the pages of the book on the camera's rear LCD.
But that's not all. If you visit a location that you want to return to but can't remember which way to go, the Photo Navigation mode is invaluable. Simply find a shot of the location and the FinePix XP30 will not only tell you how far it is from your current spot, it'll show you the directions you'll need to get there.

For those who want to re-trace their steps and map a route of their travels, the Route Logging function is certain to appeal. The FinePix XP30 stores your location data every 10 minutes* and, once you get home and the images are downloaded to a PC (through the MyFinePix Studio software included with your camera), a map of the route, along with the pictures you took along the way is created using Google Maps.
* Anytime On or Only Power On must be selected for data to be logged.

Proof that it's ready for anything

media_1294221497038.png

The FinePix XP30 is ready for anything you can throw it. Thanks to the "4 x Proof protection system", you'll be able to keep taking pictures long after conventional cameras have packed in. With its designer riveted front panel and rounded body shape featuring a smart two-tone effect, the XP30 is:
    1.    Waterproof to 5 metres, making it perfect for underwater photography, for taking pictures in heavy rain or snow, or simply for running it under the tap when it gets dirty
    2.    Shockproof up to 1.5 metres, so it'll handle being dropped or knocked around in a rucksack
    3.    Dust/Sandproof, enabling you to take it to the beach without having to worry about the sand getting into it
    4.    Freezeproof to –10°C, perfect for skiing, snowboarding or any other sub-zero activities

Quality optics deliver perfect pictures

media_1294221523480.png

Sporting a Fujinon 5x wide optical zoom covering 28-140mm (35mm equivalent), the FinePix XP30 is well equipped to deliver high quality images. In addition to the premium optics, the XP30 features Fuji's advanced Dual Image Stabilisation system to help combat camera shake. Suitable for action shots as this combats image-blur which will often occur when taking photos underwater and at night.

A wide range of functions for every shot you take

media_1294221547602.png

As well as offering all the benefits of an outdoor camera, the FinePix XP30 is also a great picture-taking machine in its own right. It boasts a full range of flash overrides, Face Detection for perfect portraits and a generous selection of subject-based scene modes, including Motion Panorama which automatically stitches up to three shots together to create panoramic pictures simply and easily. There's even a number of in-camera retouching functions including crop, rotate and red-eye removal to ensure that your photos really are perfect.
Outdoor photographers wanting to shoot video aren't neglected either; the FinePix XP30 offers HD movie capture of 720p at 30 frames per second or conventional 640 x 480 pixel definition.

Fujifilm's New 'J' Series Digital Cameras

Following in the footsteps of the current J series models, Fujifilm today announces three new additions to the range. The new cameras feature the same winning formula as previous models – all are slim, elegant compact cameras which have been filled to the brim with the latest technologies.

Model looks

media_1294220247922.png

The aesthetically pleasing design of the new FinePix 'J' series is an important part of the appeal of this range of cameras. The sleek and luxurious metal bodies have soft, curved edges, and come in an array of stunning colours to suit all tastes – there really is something for everyone in this range. And their ultra slim design ensures that the cameras are compact enough to slide into your pocket or handbag and carry with you at all times.

The differences highlighted

media_1294220279230.png

The three new models have a standard core specification and differ predominantly by their sensor resolution and zoom/lens capabilities, but also by the thickness of the camera body. Starting at the entry level end of the range there is the JV200, which has a 14 megapixel sensor and a Fujinon 3x optical zoom (36-108mm), ranging up to the JX350 with its 16 megapixel sensor, wide-angle (28mm to 140mm) 5x optical zoom lens, and super slim body.

Whichever combination you choose, by matching a high resolution sensor with high-precision Fujinon optics, Fujifilm have ensured that each model will deliver sharp and clear images, which are perfect for enlarging on screen or in print without compromising the image quality. The photos taken on the 16 megapixel cameras will blow up to A3 size without any trouble at all. Perfect for framing and creating your own wall-art, you really can enjoy getting creative.

Facebook & You Tube easy web upload

media_1294220310337.png

This year's new 'J' series all feature the popular 'Easy Web Upload' function that has previously only been found on the more fashion-driven models in the Fuji range. This is a great time-saver as it allows you to sort through your photos when you are travelling and decide which ones to upload to Facebook or You Tube so that when you get home you just have to connect to a PC and launch the MyFinePix Studio software (for Windows) and they will immediately upload.

Blink and you won't miss it

media_1294220421404.png

People often complain about ruined photos after the event, due to people blinking or not paying attention, never fear, Fujifilm is here with Smile and Shoot and Blink Detection features. The Smile and Shoot mode works by detecting smiles on faces: it will not take a picture until it detects a smile, so you're guaranteed happy shots every time. The clever Blink Detection mode warns you if you have captured an image with people blinking, so you can re-shoot if necessary.

Be a star on a the big screen

media_1294220462004.png

The 'J' series range of FinePix cameras, all benefit from Full HD image capture and 720p HD movie capture. This enables you to take stunning, detailed pictures and videos that can be enjoyed in glorious High Definition on any HD ready television* or PC.
*To connect to an HD-ready TV, you will need an optional accessory HD Player (HDP-L1)

Playing back your pictures

All the 'J' series models also feature Photobook Assist, which helps you create stunning photo books in-camera and lets you turn the pages as if you were looking at an album. Plus if you can never find the picture you are looking for, the new Picture search tool lets you search by date range, type of photo (whether it's a landscape, portrait, night-shot, macro-shot etc).

Full details of all 16 new models can be found at: www.fujifilm.co.uk/presscentre.

The W3 stereoscopic 3D camera also continues as one of the star products in the 2011 range.

Unique technologies gives Fuji the finer image

media_1294218870296.png

A common feature on all the new Spring 2011 cameras is a series of Fujifilm proprietary technologies and bespoke, superb quality Fujinon lenses; the top models sport ½ inch EXR-CMOS sensors – and the X100, a full size APS-C sensor.

One of the most exciting developments in the range is the creation of a new hybrid EXR-CMOS sensor delivering extra fast, high quality results in a wide range of lighting conditions. The design of conventional CMOS sensors is such that the light has to pass through a layer of wiring before hitting the photo diodes. But the Back side illuminated BSI-CMOS configuration places this wiring layer behind the photo diodes improving light sensitivity and dramatically boosting results, particularly in low light.

media_1294218949370.png

Featuring Fujifilm’s EXR technology, which allows the unique flexibility to optimise the sensor’s performance for either maximum resolution, the widest dynamic range or exceptional signal to noise. Consumers can either manually select one of the three EXR modes, or can use the camera in EXR Auto mode, which will automatically decide upon the best performance for a particular shot.

In HR High Resolution mode, users can take advantage of the huge 16 megapixel resolution (the world’s largest for a sensor of this type) for truly breathtaking levels of detail and sharpness. The DR Dynamic Range mode uses dual image capture technology to provide a much extended dynamic range for stunning results on high contrast scenes. While SN High Sensitivity Low Noise mode increases doubles up on the pixels using Pixel Fusion technology to produce outstanding images in low lighting conditions.

media_1294219004226.png

Fujifilm’s EXR technology isn’t purely limited to the sensor, the system also features a newly developed triple core EXR processing engine, which speeds up processing time & boosts performance and picture quality on both still and moving images.

Photographers who like to point and shoot will also benefit from an expanded scene recognition function. In addition to nine subject-based scene scenarios, object recognition now delivers a total of 27 different scene scenarios.

The EXR processing engine also has the capability to spot and reduce purple colour fringing, most common on dark subjects against a light backgrounds, and improve the resolution at the corners of an image for more uniform image sharpness.

Perhaps the most obvious benefit of the EXR engine, however, is the new Rich User Interface, which employs Flash and Vector fonts and graphics to dramatically improve the appearance of the menus on the cameras LCD screen – or via display to the same high quality on an HDTV, with connection via HDMI on some models.
