Blue Tint Cleaner - iPhone App - Seeing A Blue Tint On Your iPhone 4 Images?

Well, you may not of even realized that this is a problem but some folk have reported that when taking a photo under fluorescent lights with their iPhone that a blue stain appears in the center of the camera.

Well, guess what? There's an app to help you out - blue tint cleaner - take a look...

media_1286813109185.png

I haven't tested this app but am looking forward to doing so. It’s actually a standalone version of the feature from the developer's camera replacement app, FinderCam.

media_1286813123847.png

I also suspect that this app will work with other iPhone's not just the iPhone 4.

I'll let you know how I get on with the testing, but it certainly appears like a useful addition to your photo apps toolbox.

TiltShift Video iPhone App

Introducing the first app in the App Store that allows you to generate Tilt-Shift Videos. Until now, tilt-shift videos required very expensive lens for your DSLR or a professional video editing software to edit your video and simulate the effect and, in both cases, a good deal of patience. The TiltShift Video app uses the processing power of your iPhone or iPod Touch to easily apply the Tilt-Shift effect to your videos.

media_1286811843910.png

Presenting an intuitive, easy to use interface that will guide you from the beginning to the end through all the configuration settings that will define how your video will look like. Configure the video speed, adjust the blur amount and position, increase the saturation, add titles and configure fades.

Choose one of the application catchy loops as the soundtrack or select the song that you want from your own library.

When you are happy with your adjustments, render your video easily and export it directly to your Camera Roll, choosing from a list of resolution presets, to ensure that you get the quality that your want.

media_1286811860939.png

Important Note: The first time you use the app, your device will ask you if you want to provide permission to access the localization data. Although the app does not use localization data at all, it needs that permission in order to access to the videos found in your Camera Roll. Without the permission, the app will not able to load any videos!

In case that you denied the permission, you will be able to grant it later in your device settings, under "General", "Localization", there you will found an entry for "TiltShift Video", ensure that its switch is "on". After changing this permission, it may be needed to restart the App (kill it in the multitask menu).

media_1286811875311.png

Main Features:

* Transform any video recorded with your device's main camera into an awesome tilt-shift video.
* Adjust the playback velocity of your resulting video.
* Adjust the blur strenght and position to get incredible "miniature" effects.
* Adjust your video saturation to get vivid colors.
* Choose your video's soundtrack from one of the catchy music loops provided with the app or, simply, select one of the songs in your library.
* Choose between different export presets, including HD (720p) [Export resolution is limited by the resolution of the original video].
* Export your Tilt-Shift videos directly to your Camera Roll.
* Instructions for the application and tips about how to shoot videos for getting the best results.

And this is just the initial release! Stay tuned for many more features and optimizations on future updates.

David Bailey - Super Models to Super Powers

David Bailey more normally seen safely locked away in a studio somewhere photographing super models recently took a trip to Camp Bastion the main British military base in Afghanistan. 'The scale of the camp makes Ridley Scott's war movies look like a boy scout's exercise, IHeroes've never seen so many trucks and armored cars - it is mind-boggling' says David Bailey. Bastion is filled with 15,000 troops living on a base that is four miles long and two miles wide, along with 500 planes and helicopters flying in and out all day and night.
media_1286792556783.png
Despite being placed in a 12-bunk tent he and most of the troops found it too hot to sleep. They all stayed up talking until two or three every morning and then up for duty at 6 am and working until 10 pm most days.

Bailey lived through some pretty awful experiences whilst at the camp, 'an American solider got his arms and legs blown off, while we were there' he said. The thing he most feared though was the Camp Bastion siren, once that is sounded all the communications on the base are shut down - it sounds when a solider has been injured, or worse. The communications are closed so the internet doesn't find out before the next of kin. 'That was depressing, it went off three or four times a day', said Bailey.

media_1286792570097.png
Bailey's images from Afghanistan has been made into a book entitled Heroes with text by Dylan Jones - it is published by Thames & Hudson and will be available to buy on October 25 for £24.95. All proceeds will go to the Help for Heroes charity.

The British Wildlife Photography Award 2010 - Winners Announced

The winners of the 2010 competition have been announced. The winning photograph shows a familiar bird in its conventional setting, but the visual impact is extraordinary. Competition judge Greg Armfield from WWF said: “This is a unique and striking image. One that captures perfectly the power, chaos and intensity of the ocean as it surrounds the majestic gull.” The judges were looking for the one image that stood out, among thousands of entries, as the most memorable.
Tom Hind, competition judge from Getty Images, added: “I like the defiance in this shot - the gull’s refusal to be moved in the face of this crashing wave seems to sum up a peculiarly British stoicism! It’s also a great example of how the commonplace can be transformed in a judicious moment.
